Heute möchte ich Euch ein Buch vorstellen, dass mich echt happy macht. Es ist von meiner Freundin Catherine Matthews-Scanlon, die bereits das wunderbare Buch Sewing on Paper geschrieben hat. Ihr neues Buch heißt “Art from the Heart”

Today I want to show you a book that makes me really happy. It was created by my friend Catherine Matthews-Scanlon who already wrote the amazing book Sewing on Paper. Her new book is “Art from the Heart”

Das Buch verspricht über 20 Anleitungen für Projekte wie Schmuck, Shadow Boxes, Leinwände, Ornamente und Uhren etc.

The book promises more than 20 projects inluding jewelry, shadow boxes, wall hangings, ornaments, clocks and more.

Als ich dann das Buch öffnete, blieb mir fast das Herz stehen…so baff war ich. Die dort dargestellten Projekte schreien den Titel einfach heraus - jedes der abgebildeten Projekte ist Kunst vom Herzen. Man spürt dies sofort.

As I oppened the book, my heart nearly skipped…I was so astonished. The printed projects are screaming the book title - all of those projects are art from the heart. You can feel this right away.

Cat benutzt eine Menge Vintage-Produkte und Flohmarkt-Trophäen aber was mich wirklich beeindruckt, wie modern alles dennoch aussieht. Jedes einzelne der Produkte hat ein zeitloses aber modernes (nö - für mich ist das kein Oxymoron) und gute Laune machendes Design. Genau deswegen habe ich mich sofort in dieses Buch verliebt!

Cat uses a lot of vintage products and finds for her projects but what amazes me is how modern all of them look like. Everything has a timeless, yet modern (yep for me that is not an oxymoron) and uplifting design and that just made me love this book right away!

Die Anleitungen sind leicht verständlich und sicherlich leicht nachvollziehbar. Wenn auch bei dem einen oder anderem Material Fragen auftauchen, bin ich sicher, dass diese aber die Umsetzung des Projektes nicht gefährden können.

The tutorials are easy to understand and look like they are doable. Maybe there might be some questions about some of the used materials -but I ‘m sure that those will not endanger the projects.

Für mich alle Daumen hoch für dieses Buch und ein Muss für alle, die Altered Projects sowieso lieben.

For me a thumbs up book and a must for anybody who loves Altered Art.

Ihr wisst ja, dass ich mich häufig einfach durch Dinge, die ich in der Stadt sehe zu Layouts inspirieren lasse- ich sehe etwas, mache ein Foto und habe bereits eine Idee für ein Layout im Kopf- nicht für das Design, nur für das Journaling und den Titel.In diesem Fall also “Nat, und wie sie die Welt sah!”

You know that I often get inspired through things I see in the city - I see something, take a photo and already have an idea for a layout in my head. Not about the design, just about the journaling and the title. So here “The world according to Nat!”

*Defining Me* 

Journaling:

What defines me? Well if you ask me – I am what I am. I am true – not a player, not back stabbing – totally disliking people who do back stab. I’m trusting and sometimes to often. That is the weird thing. You can back stab me, you can hurt me and I will still give you another chance. You might think that I didn’t get it…I did, but I do believe in the good things in people and I just give you another chance. If you back stabbed me too often – I will let you fall – never ever talk to you again and I will not look back. I’m funny, sometimes even acting like a clown, but I can be very serious too. I can listen. I am actually a listener although I talk too much. I am what I am. I have been through things in my life that were very hurtful and they let me grow. I know there is a whole – a dark one that is one I never fall into. That is me. I’m optimistic – I can get up many times. I will cry – I will yell, but I will always get up and jump over the black whole – knowing that better times are coming. If you criticize me I hate it first. I can’t take it right away. You might think I did not listen – but I did. I will take an hour or two and then I can talk about this and actually take the critique if it is of true nature. That is me - can’t do anything against it – I am what I am. I’m honest – goes with disliking back stabbing. Other people might avoid talking over their hurt feelings with their friends and family if they think something went wrong. I won’t! People sometimes hate me for this. I don’t care. I’m loyal – and I expect this from my friends! If I care for the people I need to talk about problems, need to solve it, need to figure it out, making the relationship most of the time more valuable! I’m a loving person – but I can be very hurtful too. I’m upset very quickly – especially if I have think someone was treated wrong – I can be unfair at that times- but if I realize I have no problems to apologize and talk about this.  That is me – I am what I am. I’m blessed with a wonderful life, a wonderful husband, wonderful friends – all that shows me that being me is ok – being me is good. I am what I am and I am just me.

Ich bereite gerade einen Prima Miniworkshop für unser Paperbraut-Forumstreffen am 14.6. vor. Ich habe mir ein schönes Minialbum einfallen lassen und es wird Farbe im Spiel sein und es werden ganz tolle neue Produkte verwendet werden Für alle die nicht in Hamburg dabei sein können, werde ich diesen Workshop online anbieten für voraussichtlich 15 EUR inclusive Material/Versandkosten extra. Wer hätte denn ganz unverbindlich Interesse? - nur damit ich weiß, wieviel Material ich wohl so bestellen sollte- LOL.

I’m preparing a Prima Miniworkshop for our Paperbraut Messageboard Meeting in June. Nun denn…alle meine Pläne fallen durch zur Zeit…ich habe keine Ahnung warum…aber ich versuche optimistisch zu bleiben - LOL. Gutes kommt ja zu denen die gut sind - oder? Lasst uns hoffen, dass ich gut genug bin und drückt mir die Daumen, dass ich durchhalte! …

Well…somehow all my plans fall through right now…I don’t have a clue why …but I’m trying to stay optimistic - LOL. Good things come to those that are good - right? Let’s hope I’m good enough and cross your fingers that I will be able to hang in there!!

Wishing the Europeans a gorgeous holiday today!

Wenn man einfach nur durch eine Stadt läuft, kann man unglaublich viel entdecken. Ich liebe es ja mich an neuen Orten für ein Weilchen alleine auf den Weg zu machen und die neue Umgebung auf mich einwirken zu lassen. Das habe ich auch bei den Workshops in Utrecht gemacht und dabei am frühen Morgen lauter schöne kleine Kunstwerke im Bürgersteig entdeckt.

If you are just walking through a city you can explore so many things. I love to go out on my own a little while when coming to a new place. I want to let the new area soaking in for a while (if you know what I mean). So I did this too when I went to the workshops in Utrecht and managed to detect all those beautiful little art pieces in the pavement.

I used the brandnew Danyeela Patterned Paper 12×12, Acrylic Paints and Pigments, Heidi Swapp Chipboard Letters, Grungeboard, Glossy Accents and 7 Gypsies Metalborder

And now I’m really hoping for wonderful weather tomorrow for our German Labour Day and Ascension Day (and for this reason national holiday), so that our plans won’t fall through (very boring in English - in German you say - so that the plans do not fall into the water-LOL)

Supplies: Danyeela Patterned Paper, Hambly Screen Prints Overlays, Basic Grey Obscure, Office Transparency, Tim Holtz Stamp, Ranger’s Alcohol Inks and Blending Solutions , Posca Marker

I used some Alcohol Inks on a sheet of transparency – just dropped the inks onto the transparency and then also just dropped some Blending Solution onto it. After dry I stamped the plants onto it and used the Posca Marker for some dots

Ansonsten ist der Frühling eingetroffen -ich freue mich riesig und Christiane kommt vor ihrem Abflug zu den Workshops in Bad Aibling noch für ein paar Stunden zu Besuch  - yeahhh!

Other than that spring is here- yippeah - and Christiane will visit me a couple hours today before she takes the plane to her workshops in Bad Aibling - yeaahhh
